CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS IWANN2007 (International Work-Conference on
Artificial Neural Networks) CONFERENCE
San Sebastián (Spain) June 20-22, 2007
http://www.iwann-conference.org/2007/
The 9th International Work-Conference on Artificial Neural Networks
(IWANN'2007) (Computational and Ambient Intelligence) will take place in
San Sebastián (Spain) June 20-22, 2007, within the context of the XXVI
Summer Courses of the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU). This biennial
meeting focuses on the foundations, theory, models and applications of
systems inspired on nature (neural networks, fuzzy logic and evolutive
systems).
It was previously held in Granada (1991 and 2001), Sitges, Barcelona (1993),
Torremolinos, Málaga (1995), Lanzarote, Canary Islands (1997), Alicante
(1999), Menorca (2003) and Vilanova i la Geltrú (2005), with a growing
number of participants from more than 20 countries and with high quality
papers published by Springer-Verlag (LNCS 540, 686, 930, 1240, 1606-1607,
2084-2085 and 3512).
The proceedings will include all the presented communications to the
conference (tutorials, oral and posters). As in previous editions of IWANN,
we are arranging the publication of the proceedings with Springer-Verlag on
Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) series, and the book will be
available on-site. It is also foreseen the publication of an extended
version of selected papers in a special issue of the Neurocomputing journal
(Elsevier).
Special sessions within IWANN2007 aim at complementing the regular program
with new or emerging topics of particular interest to the participating
community. Special sessions that emphasize on multi-disciplinary and
transversal aspects, as well as cutting-edge topics are especially
encouraged and welcome.
Prospective organizers of special sessions should submit proposals
indicating:
- Title of the session
- Motivation and objectives for the session, emphasizing the benefits for
IWANN2007.
- Short biography of the organizer(s), with complete address for contact.
- List of, at least five (5) prospective contributed papers (including
titles, authors, and contact information of the corresponding author).
- Proposals are due on or before November 26, 2006 and should be sent by
e-mail, without specific format to the responsible people (see below for
detailed affiliation).
Special session organizers should also contact a sufficient number of
experts who are able to review the papers submitted to their session,
bearing in mind that at least three reviews per paper are required in order
to make the final assessment. The organizer of the special session may be
one of these experts, and the organizer may propose an additional referee.
The third referee will be chosen among the members of the IWANN2007 Program
Committee.
Special session organizers are expected to submit a tutorial / introductory
paper, which will not undergo the usual review process. Additionally, the
organizers might submit, at most, one ordinary contribution which will be
included into the revision process.
Special Sessions proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the
topic, the qualifications of the organizers and the authors of the papers
proposed in the sessions, and the balance of the topics across the technical
areas represented in IWANN. Notification of acceptance will be sent to the
organizers by December 10, 2006. Authors of papers included in successful
proposals should submit a manuscript with the same format and deadline as
the general program submissions, and they will undergo review. If, at the
end of the review process, less than three (3) papers are accepted, the
session will be cancelled and the accepted papers will be moved to regular
sessions. Special Sessions will only be composed of the papers proposed
directly through the organizer, and those proposed by the authors for this
specific Sessions, following the regular Call for Papers period.
Special session organizers will benefit from a 30% reduction in the
registration fee.
